They Say, They Say...

08/05/2026

What's for you won't pass you

they say , they say

You made your bed now there you may lay

Afraid of burning in the fires of hell ?

Then confess your sins - they say , they say, they say

A childhood filled with sorrow and shame some only out for their own gain

Where women are deemed second class many not even allowed into mass.

Tell me why oh why such crass

No place to hide not in my own home

Praying to god no harm will be done

why do I feel like it's me on the run

Tell me why I am left to battle it out in a world full of despise and misogynistic clout

Because men think women are objects you see

to be raped abused and used

inspected and disrespected- oh so fucking causally

not a mention of my damn dignity!

And tell me

how did you get in such a position

Was it not all your own decision ?

Well you see I'm glad you ask

For me to tell is a heartbreaking task

I had lost all faith and hope you see

taken from promises of just you and me

My only crime was to love and trust a man whom then I would later wed

yeah, it's heartbreaking just like I said

I wish I could change what he did to me alas I know that can never be, you see

All I seek is justice now , through strength and joy I'll find a way how

What I beg of you

Is to join our plight

to gather and fight this awful blight

that we can rest and have a peaceful night

So I reach out to make this call - black, brown and white , woman and man

small and tall please do what you can

All genders all defender's all believer's and none

We cannot stop until change is done

Beautiful and pure are Mna na hEireann - you can't blame us to actually dare

to finally live a life that's true and fair

To reap the rewards of our hard fought and sweet victory

Now I resist the urge to compare

my hidden gift to you I share

So here it is my written word

My pen flows as though it's a fleeing bird
