Bairbre Kelly - Counsellor & Psychotherapist and Éist Co-Founder

Bairbre Kelly is one of the co-founders of Éist, and a counsellor and psychotherapist known for her warmth, honesty, and deep commitment to her clients. Originally from Dublin and now living in Drogheda with her family, Bairbre brings both her professional expertise and her genuine humanity into every session.

Her approach is rooted in empathy and understanding - meeting people exactly where they are, and helping them find safety, clarity, and strength in their own stories. She believes therapy should be a space where you can come as you are, feel heard without judgment, and begin to rebuild trust in yourself and in the world around you.

Bairbre has a wide-ranging practice, but she is especially passionate about working with people who have experienced trauma, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and neurodivergent clients - an area she connects to personally as she is neurodivergent herself.

Alongside her therapeutic work, Bairbre is also a strong advocate for fairness and dignity in the wider system. She has been outspoken about the use of counselling notes of victims and survivors of rape and gender-based violence in court, and is the founding member of Therapists Against Harm, a growing group of therapists campaigning to end this harmful practice altogether.

Bairbre is a lifelong learner - always building on her skills and knowledge to better support those she works with. Her sessions are compassionate, grounded, and empowering - a space where healing feels possible, and where you're reminded that you don't have to face things alone.

Bairbre has her own private practice and if you would like to reach out to her personally, you can do so on 087 204 0016. Alternatively, you can reach her via Éist - Saying No To Silence.

Black Therapists Ireland — Partnering with Éist to Celebrate Diversity and Cultural Connection
Black Therapists Ireland — Partnering with Éist to Celebrate Diversity and Cultural Connection

At Éist, we believe that therapy should feel like a space where every part of who you are is seen and understood. That's why we're proud to partner with Black Therapists Ireland (BTI) - a collective of qualified, passionate therapists who centre cultural awareness and belonging in their work.

We know that when someone is experiencing mental or emotional distress, it can make all the difference to connect with what feels familiar and safe. Working with a therapist who shares and understands your cultural background can offer a deep sense of comfort, validation, and trust - a foundation from which real healing can begin.

Through our partnership with BTI, we make it easier for clients to access mental health support that honours diversity, celebrates identity, and upholds the values of empathy, respect, and equality. BTI therapists are fully trained, professionally accredited, and committed to providing high-quality care to individuals, couples, and families both in Ireland and around the world.

While BTI was created to support Black communities in particular - reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and encouraging open conversations about mental health - their therapists welcome everyone. People of all cultures, ethnicities, genders, religions, abilities, and neurotypes are invited to access support in an inclusive and affirming environment.

BTI also provides a powerful space for Black therapists to connect and support one another, strengthening their ability to care for others while sustaining their own wellbeing.

Together, Éist and Black Therapists Ireland share a vision of therapy as a place of belonging - where every story matters, every voice is valued, and every person is met with compassion and respect.

You can read more about BTI or book with one of their counsellors privately here. Alternatively, you can reach out through Éist - Saying No To Silence.
