Dawning

And as the red sky paints her room, she's lying in her bed,

She shuts her eyes, realising now, that all her dreams are dead.

She sighs into the silence, she's no more words to say.

If she spoke she's scared there'd be a bigger price to pay.

The red sun of the sunrise, a warning, so they say.

She sighs into the silence

And dreads another day.

And as the red sky paints her room, the white walls now like blood.

The memories attack her, just like an endless flood.

Words that should be spoken, but she cannot find a way.

The silence she must keep destroys her, bit by bit each day.

The red sun of the sunrise, a warning, so they say.

She sighs into the silence

And dreads another day.

And as the red sky paints her room, she hears a blackbird's song.

She grits her teeth, because she knows that what was done was wrong.

Her voice is weak from silence, but she knows she needs to shout.

And this gives her the strength she needs, to let her truth come out.

The red sun of the sunrise. It fades each passing hour.

She speaks into the silence

Now her voice holds all the power.
